I've never read a Dostoyevsky novel. (I have read some of his short stories.) Which one should I start with?
The most likely suspects are Crime and Punishment or The Brothers Karamazov

Telling my pals about what I'm reading lately ...

Both C & P and The Brothers K are excellent. C & P is probably a little lighter going - I remember skipping over some stuff in The Brothers K. On the other hand, I also remember The Brothers K as being the most moving and redemptive. You can't go wrong with either one.
Go for Crime and Punishement. . . however, if you are generally interested in Russian literature, go for The Master & Margarita by Mikhail Bulgokov. (I know, not the question you asked)
